Brian May has has a very busy last few days, having performed at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert with Foo Fighters at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening. And then on Tuesday he teased he was flying to Armenia for the first time ever.

Brian wrote on Instagram: “A new adventure ! To Armenia ! For the very first time for me …. How amazing !! Bri.”

It turns out the Queen guitarist was attending Starmus VI, a global festival of science communication and art that brings together the most brilliant minds on the planet and takes place in Yerevan, Armenia.

A co-founder of the festival, the 75-year-old was awarded the Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication for his great contribution to popularising science.

Apart from being a rock star, Dr Brian May is an astrophysicist who regularly enthuses his field.

According to Armen Press, Brian said: “First of all I want to thank Armenia. STARMUS is important. It unites us and reminds us that we all are human.’ He said that he was interested in music and astronomy at a young age, but he was told that he won’t succeed in both. ‘But I proved everyone that they were all wrong. Therefore, I want to share this Medal with everyone in this hall, who thinks that he is not so good enough.’”
