Traditionally how was Twelfth Night acknowledged?
At the beginning of each Twelfth Night, the Twelfth Night cake, made of fruit, nuts and spices, was eaten.
In modern times, this cake was akin to a modern Italian Panettone.
Whoever made the cake would hide a dried pea or bean inside and whoever found it was named the Lord or Lady of Misrule for the evening.
This individual led the celebrations and was dressed like a King or Queen.
Later, the Twelfth Night parties would continue and would involve singing Christmas carols in addition to luxurious feasts.
