Rafael Nadal clears up WhatsApp group claims after Novak Djokovic comments | Tennis | Sport

Rafael Nadal says there is NOT a private WhatsApp group involving just himself, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Despite being the best three players of their generation and highly competitive, Nadal, Federer and Djokovic seem to share a friendly relationship on and off the court.

And their relationship is a complete reversal from the fractious atmosphere amongst the best players in the 1990s.

Federer has teamed up with Nadal and Djokovic in doubles and they have all combined to play exhibition matches to raise money for charity.

In an interview with Dubai Eye 103.8 while in Kuwait earlier this month, Nadal was asked if he had a private WhatsApp group chat with Federer and Djokovic.

And he said: “Yes. We are in touch. At the end of the day we talk the same language, we are doing the same thing for such a long time and we love what we are doing so I think we have a responsibility to promote the sport in the right way.

“We are just trying to take care about things which can be helpful to keep promoting tennis around the world.

Then after arriving in Dubai for the Dubai Championships, Djokovic was asked to confirm the presence of a group between the three of them.

The world No 1 replied: “Yeah we do. We are all active and we are not active. When we are not active we are not active. When we are everybody responds.

“We get along very well. There is a tremendous respect for each other privately and also professionally.

“All of us who are on the players council to be informed of all the things that are happening and any news is transmitted there.

“Yes there is some other group in which we are all three but not only the three of us.

“It is not that we have a daily communication. The group is more for professional issues than personal issues.”
