Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly pushing Ed Woodward to make moves for Ajax pair Donny van de Beek and Hakim Ziyech. Pressure is mounting on the Red Devils boss following a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City last night.
According to ESPN, Solskjaer has identified Van de Beek as his primary target after missing out on Erling Braut Haaland, who joined Borussia Dortmund.
A creative midfielder is desperately required at Old Trafford due to the poor form of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata.
Solskjaer would prefer Van de Beek to Tottenham’s want away midfielder Christian Eriksen and the Norwegian is putting pressure on the hierarchy to get a deal done.
It is claimed Ajax would demand a fee in the region of £50million for the Holland international.
But Overmars does not expect any of his side’s top players to leave until the summer.
“Next summer I expect a lot more interest in our players,” Overmars added. “It becomes harder to keep our squad intact. Ajax players are loved everywhere.
“Think of Van de Beek and Ziyech. They have been here a long time and have brought Ajax so much beauty.”
