Kate Middleton, 38, the Duchess of Cambridge arrived at Buckingham Palace with her husband Prince William last night – and the royal sported the Lover’s Knot tiara and a £70m necklace for the evening. The pair were attending Diplomatic Corps, a reception.
She has not worn this accessory at all White Tie dinners though, as she didn’t one for the 2015 state banquet with China’s president Xi Jinping.
Kate also wore an ivory cameo brooch, and of course, her sapphire and diamond engagement ring.
Making sure to show off the tiara to its best advantage, Kate wore her long brown hair in a formal low bun-style updo.
Knowing that her jewellery would take centre stage, she opted for a pared back black dress and low-key makeup.
In 2014, she was pictured wearing the stunning piece when she attended the National Portrait Gallery’s annual gala.
While it’s not known how much this particular piece costs, at the time, the Nizam of Hyderabad was one of the richest men in the world.
The Jewels of Nizams are among the largest and most expensive jewels in present-day India.
In 1995 the Indian government bought the jewels for about $70 million, many years after the death of Last Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan in 1967.
